The Lisa Whitmore Memorial Shop with a Cop & Firefighter was founded in 2005 and seeks to give children living at Clare House, McKinnell House, and AWAIC shelter a day they will remember for a lifetime. Our goal is to help provide a memorable and joyful day for kids and to show that First Responders in Anchorage are here to serve.

Local police officers and firefighters are paired with children to purchase gifts. AC4C and Anchorage Fire Department Local 1264 provide each shopper with $100. Fred Meyer graciously hosts this shopping spree each year and generously donates $25 per child.

Our partners at Nuvision Credit Union joined the efforts in 2021 to provide an additional $100 per shopper, bringing the total amount to $225 for each child to buy holiday gifts.

In 2024, Kendall Auto Group joined the efforts by providing additional financial support which allowed for another 30 shoppers to join the festivities. This brought the total number of shoppers in 2024 to 100! At the end of the day, volunteers from APD, AFD, and Nuvision Credit Union custom-wrap gifts to be delivered to each shelter.
