Special Olympics

The Anchorage Cops for Community and Anchorage Police Departments have a longstanding and important relationship with Special Olympics of Alaska. Our officers care deeply about those with special needs, and many on the force have family members living with disabilities. We particularly like to support our Special Olympians in Alaska and support programs yearround. This includes the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge, and Academy Recruit Day. School Resource Officer (SRO) Matt Fraize is the driving force behind this initiative. To be involved in any of our programs with Special Olympics, please reach out to AC4CChair@apdea.org.

You can also make a donation to our Special Olympics programs by donating directly to AC4C.

APD’S support for Special Olympics Alaska is vital in raising awareness and helping to raise money for Special Olympic Athletes to compete in Sports at no cost all year long. Our support locally is part of a worldwide movement of Law Enforcement officers in over 46 countries who have raised over $1 billion dollars since 1981, when the Law Enforcement Torch Run began. On a personal level, the money that I help to raise supports my daughter Gianna and her fellow Special Olympics Athletes, who compete in sports right here in Alaska and also have a chance to compete on a national and international stage as well.
