Project Angel Tree
In the past 6 years, hundreds of children in Anchorage have had a special Christmas thanks to the APD’s Project Angel Tree program. In 2023, over 200 kids received gifts through the generosity of the Anchorage Police Department and the community of citizens, organizations, and businesses that support this project
Around 200 paper Christmas angels hang on a tree in APD's main lobby, each one representing a child in need and their gift wish lists.
"This is our chance to actually be able to do what we became police officers to do—to give back to the community and participate in that. It's heartwarming and just makes it an amazing season. That’s why the Project Angel Tree in Anchorage is a big deal to me and those involved. It’s wintertime; you have to get winter tires, keep food on the table, buy winter clothes for your kids, all of which are not cheap. If we can come in with Christmas gifts, then ultimately that takes some of the stress of those family members and puts a smile on children's and family member’s faces.”
