Shop with a Hero
The Shop with a Hero program is a project made possible by Anchorage Cops for Community, Alaska Police & Fire Chaplains, local law enforcement heroes from APD and the Alaska State Troopers, and the generous support from Walmart and community partners.
Each year, over 50 children and teens are identified through the Anchorage School District to be paired with a first responder from a variety of participating agencies—an officer, dispatcher, chaplain, K9 unit, SWAT team member, or Alaska State Trooper—to buy gifts for themselves and their families. After they have finished shopping from the donations from AC4C, APD, and Walmart, kids have their gifts wrapped by volunteers from the community and have the chance to pick additional gifts to add to their shopping experience.
