Louie G. Mizelle (1954-1989) had been an Anchorage police officer for five-and-a-half years when on June 5, 1989, he responded to a report of shots fired from an apartment complex in Mountain View. When he arrived a gunman fired on him, hitting him five times. Mizelle died the following day. The park at Mountain View Drive and North Lane St. was named in his honor. “Anchorage Place Names”, Rae Arno
